According to a Florida Realtors’ report, a total of 18,038 single-family existing homes sold in June 2010, jumping 15 percent from the same month last year. This marked the 22nd consecutive month of increased sales activity in the year-over-year comparison. In addition, statewide existing-home sales in June increased 7.7 percent over sales activity in May, Florida Realtors said. And data regarding existing-condo sales was even more impressive. With a total of 6,916 units sold last month, sales skyrocketed 33 percent from June 2009. Growth in existing-home sales in June was reported in 15 of Florida’s metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs), and 16 of the state’s MSAs posted higher existing-condo sales. Florida Realtors said a majority of the state’s MSAs have reported an increase in sales for 24 consecutive months. When it comes to prices, the report was mixed. Last month’s statewide existing-home median price of $143,400 was 2.1 percent higher than May, marking the fourth month in a row that the prices have increased on a month-to-month basis. However, prices were down 3 percent when compared with year-ago levels. Existing-condo prices posted a more notable decline. According to Florida Realtors, the median price for existing condos across the state came in at $95,000.
